Soldiers of Magnesa
Revolutionist, man at war
At the start of Fall of Sin, two hundred and sixty-nine years have gone by in humanity’s war against Sin the Tyrant. In Magnesa, these soldiers refer to themselves, at times, as Revolutionists. In GC 269 their numbers are both few and detrimentally divided and they would argue they have less in common than the facts would bear out otherwise. It is the Standard, The Revolutionists’ Flag, that presents any obvious outward unification to them. But no matter the Revolutionist, they would say their scutum is their heart and soul, their reason for being, and that which keeps themselves and their war alive.
Still, “war is rare,” and in a real sense, the War is over. Combatants on either side have by and large settled in to their new world with only minor engagements made between them. The War is a persistent reminder behind the current fallout of existence. It is a larger world, yet deeply narrowminded. The Revolutionists being committed towards a staunch effort in self-preservation. They are committed to their tribes.
There are no societies to be found in Magnesa. Even the word society. In its vacuum there are empty ruins and a quiet musing of “why this?” or “where did it all go?” This vanishing precipitated the modern Magnesan scutum and very few seek to change this believing that war is still necessary. They fear change. The self-isolation and willful segregation has fostered the unforeseen (yet totally predictable) consequence of suspicion and mistrust among fellow Revolutionists—at least towards those who do not bear the like memento. This in turn cannibalizes the likelihood of promoting the development of a new society. For one to take up that banner would be considered a radical. A revolutionary, if you will.
That is the degree to which the Revolutionists have grown accustomed to their stringent partisan tribes. They know of no other organization and dare not to ponder one. Thus, it is not an exaggeration to say that each remaining scutum believes itself to be the Chosen One to end the War. But alas, the end has come and gone.
